The Lake Area Industry Alliance is very active in the community. Through this organization member companies are able to engage in activities that would be burdensome for any one facility to organize on its own.
In addition to the LAIA Chem Expo and the Communications efforts, the members work together to provide updated information through the Lake Area Industry Alliance Website and assist the community with educational programs like the Children’s Museum Industry Exhibit and Teacher Resource Guides. Other activities such as the annual Paint Recycling Event and the Chamber Southwest Louisiana Business and Industry Day are also beneficial activities provided collectively by the members of the Lake Area Industry Alliance.
Children’s Museum
The LAIA Industry Exhibit is now part of the Children’s Museum. The hands-on exhibit provides Personal Protective Equipment, displays and Computer Based Training programs for the children to learn more about area industry jobs, processes and products.
Paint Recycling
As part of the Annual Team Green Trash Bash at the Lake Charles Civic Center, LAIA provides a paint collection, recycling and disposal program. Area residents bring their used paint and through this program an average of 600 pounds of quality paint is recycled for non-profit organizations rather than being sent to local landfills for disposal.
Chamber Southwest Louisiana Business and Industry Day
Each year LAIA assists the Chamber with the Leadership program by providing one of the sessions. During the business and industry day session, participants meet at a member company facility for a tour and presentations about industry history, economic impact and the world-wide economy.
Teacher Resource Guide
Teachers across the Lake Area reference the LAIA Teacher Resource Guide available through the website when planning field trips, career days or special activities for their students.
