BioLab, Inc., based in Lawrenceville, Ga., is a premier formulator of water treatment biocides and related specialty chemicals. Locally, the company's Lake Charles, La. presence began in December 1994 when the Trichlor Manufacturing Plant was purchased from Olin Corporation.

BioLab was founded in 1955 as a family owned-firm and over the past five decades, the company has grown to become recognized as one of the premiere companies serving the water treatment industry, while offering a comprehensive line of services and marketing support for it's dealers and distributors nationwide.

Chemtura now employs over 6,500 people with approximately 88 based in Lake Charles.

All BioLab personnel have been trained in Emergency Response

BioLab has Emergency Medical Technicians, along with First Responder personnel available for emergency situations. BioLab has Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, Protective Suiting, and decontamination equipment for the facility needs. In the event that confinement or containment cannot be established with in the facilities, the incident commander will call for additional outside resources to respond.

    The BioLab facility is a member of the Calcasieu Parish Community Awareness and Emergency Response (CAER) organization. The CAER radio system allows us to communicate with industry and other local, public authorities.  The HR Department will also issue updates as available to news media.

BioLab, Inc. has grown to be recognized as one of the premiere companies serving the water treatment industry. The BioLab, Inc. Lake Charles Facility has accomplished a non-recordable incident status for the past two years.

The facility has also gone over five years without a lost time incident.

    The BioLab, Inc. Lake Charles Plant considers waste reduction a priority, reducing our waste is in our best interest, and the public's. Continuous upgrades in our process to recover, recycle, and reuse greatly eliminates our waste.
