The CAER Group has two main purposes:

1. To facilitate local emergency response activities through use of the emergency notification systems in coordination with the LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee), and the Calcasieu Parish Office of Emergency Management.
2. To provide a community outreach program to educate and inform the public concerning CAER.
